Valentina woke up with a different kind of hunger… the kind that can’t be satisfied with just anything. She looked in the mirror, tied her hair back, and blew her nose: today she wanted something different. The table was set, but what she wanted most wasn’t food. Sara arrived a little late, but so radiant that everything stopped for a second. “Are you still hungry?” she whispered in her ear. Valentina went up, feigning innocence, though her smile betrayed her. Sara approached slowly, took her face in her hands, and brought it to her mouth, but before tasting it, she offered it to Valentina. They both laughed, their lips bumping involuntarily, savoring the vomit again and again. Valentina would vomit, and Sara would swallow it, splattering it all over her mouth and face. Soon they didn’t know if they were eating or playing. The table ended with more laughter and Valentina covered in food. There were fruits, vegetables, and chicken that Sarah ate, especially to feed her. Crumbs were everywhere in her mouth, and a thick air of mischief hung in the air. Valentina, her eyes sparkling, said between laughs, “This breakfast was definitely different.” Sara just replied with a mischievous smile, “And it’s just the beginning.”
