Valentina was already getting Sarita ready for bed. Night had fallen gently, and the little girl, with heavy eyes, could barely stand. Her mother adjusted her diaper and went to get her warmest pajamas.

“Mommy, where’s my teddy bear?” Sarita asked, hugging the air.

“I’ll bring it to you, my love,” Valentina replied from the other room.

But Sarita wasn’t patient that night. Between tiredness and urgency, she ended up making a small mess. When Valentina returned, she found the girl with a relieved expression and a suspicious silence.

They looked at each other for a second… and both understood everything.

Valentina, with a loving smile, said nothing. She cleaned her up carefully, as if nothing had happened.

“There, now you can get changed and go to sleep,” she said, but Sarita let out some very unpleasant farts.

“Good morning, Mommy,” she said proudly.

Valentina received it as the best gift in the world, because in the end, beyond any disaster, love was always what filled everything.
